Started ordering new computer parts

I was sitting in study hall today, and decided that 3 years makes my computer too old. I cant run any of the new good games, and I have upgraded all that can be upgraded. So, I hopped on new egg and started making purchases. So far, I have ordered a Core 2 Duo 1.8, which can be overclocked to well over 3, and I bought an MSI P6N.

1 Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E4300 - Retail
Item #: N82E16819115013
Return Policy: Processors (CPUs) Return Policy $169.00

1 MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Item #: N82E16813130082
Return Policy: Standard Return Policy $109.99

This is going to be a budget machine, so I am reusing a lot of things, like my monitors, kb/mouse, and hd and optical drives. I need help picking out a decently priced, decent performance PCI-E gfx card, and some memory. So please help me out.

a single 7900gs can still hold it's own with most modern games.

I bought 2 gigs of WINTEC DDR2 with heat spreaders on em, they got good reveiws as cheap overclocker's memory on newegg. I also bought blood's evga 7900gt superclocked.

Oh I almost forgot to mention, the mobo and proccy arrived yesterday, and I went ahead and put the processor on the motherboard. When did they stop putting pins on CPU's?

blood 03-13-2007 03:38 PM

since that socket that you have.

SacredTbag 03-14-2007 02:27 AM

you have to be EXTREMELY careful with the 775 boards. it's much harder to fix the pins on the board than it is to fix pins on a cpu.

and it's good you got a 7900gt instead of a gs. you'll be much happier with it :) i've got 2 and i can play all my games (except oblivion) completely maxed out with no probs.

yeah the gt is the better card...but i got a 7900gs and it plays anything i got(havent tried oblivion) bf2, AA i havent came across anything to stop it yet..plus with the drivers and software from nvidia its possible to turn it up even more which is wow crazy lol, the memory and card i just bought bout a month ago from newegg.

memory: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820145527

video card: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1155072371459

i bought the card from best buy on sale for $170..whats opinions on the ddr3 memory being faster cuz of the 256 bit interface instead of the 128 of ddr2 memory??

they run flawless so far plays anything i put in

the setup u got going so far should be plenty enough i would think to run anything
