What's Wrong With My Internet?

Hey,

Lately, over the past 2 or 3 weeks, I've noticed that I lag out completely out of servers every few rounds. Do you know what could be causing my internet to do this? I'm at a T3 connection in my dorm on campus, never had this problem before earlier this year. Would like to know yalls thoughts. Thanks

Sorry to all you good little catholic boys. However Zin... I miss you. I'm sad without you because you complete me. ;)

Just don't tell my Costa Rican bastard of a friend named TiCo that I said that.

As to your internet.. anybody else on your campus getting the lag and junk? I would have to say its probably spyware too if no one else is getting the lag or anything.

Thats what I use on my PC. Keeps it running quite smooth, and hey its free. Can't argue with that shit.

This happens to me as well. I can't find any solution to it. Ad-aware doesn't get rid of everything so yeah I'm going to have to format my computer soon.

dorm = trojan city. grab a copy of norton how ever you can and use it to check out your system. make sure you're in safe mode when you run it (after updating it in regular windows mode).

You guys can whine about Norton vs AVG vs McAfee vs <your fave scanner here> but personal corporate/customer/self experience shows Norton will catch more reglardless of how bloated it is.

good luck zin, if ad-aware and norton can't catch everything then format.

ps. after all of that, a defrag for good luck :D once in a blue moon that damn thing actually helps.

Zin 03-09-2007 04:12 PM

heh come to think of it it has been 3 weeks since my lasgt spyware check and probably longer since the last time i defraged. . .= O

Spin 03-09-2007 05:02 PM

yeah i prefer norton over any of them but im too damn cheap to pay for any of them lol...i like mcafee but the virus scanner and firewall is so picky and seems like it fights with normal programs lol...but running it in safe mode is the best way to do it as Blood says

blood 03-10-2007 04:07 AM

mcafee has big TCP/IP issues.

A common piece of spyware called "spysherrif" will put itself back in after a reboot, you can download a fix for it here: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php beware it will remove you desktop wallpaper so make sure you have a copy of the pic.

Another common one is called Cool Web Search, you can find a remover here:
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php that one should be safe to run.

You can also try hijack this, http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3...ml?tag=lst-0-1 be careful tho, this program can (and will) destroy parts of your registry if you use it incorrectly, best thing to do is scan, then do a google search on the filenames that it finds, then if you find that one of the files is bad then you remove it. Keep in mind certain spyware programs take control of your winsocket layers and removing them this way will destroy your internet connection. Use this as a last resort after you have backed up your important documents and you just wanna try something before you reformat.
