In the summer of 1997, a former Circle of Advisory member named Sp@awn contacted Hell-Kite about merging [kite's clan name missing here] and his friend, [ET leadername here]'s, clan called the EliteTroopers into FA. EliteTroopers had be a very large clan during its highest point that rivaled FA in many regards, but due to time commitments of [ET leadername here] and Hell-Kite's lack of web development skills they began to make the ascention into mediocrity. Having been allies and friends of FA, Sp@wn and Oct offered to allow us to merge ET into FA, under the FA flag. The members that merged in were granted ranks based off their ranks in ET and a large number of them kept the (ET) tag to show where they came from. Hell-Kite became a CoA member and everyone else dispersed amoung the ranks accordingly. Everything became completed in September of 1997. The Catheral of Fallen Angels had gained about 50 members through the merger. At the time ET had been primarily a Diablo and Starcraft clan, but FA didn't have a Diablo division at the time so a Diablo division was created and they joined the starcraft division as well. After about two months their had been sevre problems with the Warlords of the Starcraft division regarding inactivity and lack of interest in Starcraft itself. The solution was to make Hell-Kite the new Warlord of Starcraft in early 1998. During his period of warlord, which lasted until the release of Diablo 2, the Starcraft division enjoyed its most successful run of most of the divisions in FA.

The Starcraft division outlawed the use of Big Game Hunters (or BGH) and encouraged members to play in ladder matches, as well as organized scrims and 2v2 battles with multiple clans. At that time FA|SC had over 100 active members. Some of the accomplishments included top 200 ranking on ladder for a few members. A few of us, such as Storm, Celsius, phreezerbryte and Hell-Kite, won repeated 2v2 competitions and are known as the two most competitive members of the time.

In early 2002 the Unreal Tournament division was lead by Gandrather. Phoenix`Flame was the leader of Boot Camp. Around this time the UT division was dying out. Gandy was nowhere to be found nor was Px`. The members started up an Instagib CTF squad which was the only active part of FA|UT until the release of UT2k3.

AT 15 []ctavion find himself sitting on top of the online gaming world at the helm of one of its most popular Web sites.

In non-digital, real-time format, []ctavion is also know as Cyrus Greenall, a bright spark in a hurry living in West Vancouver.

If you happen to be male, somewhere between the ages of 13 to 16, and plugged into the Net, then you most likely are immersed in the on-line gaming world.
Players organize themselves into units called clans. Of course clans do battle, within and without. The arenas include war strategy games, first-person shoot 'em ups and the like. They are dark places of mayhem and deadly force -- worlds where young testosterone-riddled male teens can safely work their demons.

The International Gaming Guild Network (IGG) represents about 7,000 clans all over the world. Clan site performance is voted on. Based on the popularity of the Web site and clan performance, Greenall's site The Cathedral of Fallen Angels (www.fallen-angels.net) is regularly ranked number one in IGG's top 10 gaming sites.

As of Friday, the most immediate competition was from clan Web sites The Guardians Of Souls and Maximum Overkill -- a site that boasts as its motto "some people win, others lose...we kill".

Greenall operates The Cathedral of Fallen Angels site along with 19-year-old Ryan Masanz, his partner in a Web site development company they call NeXt Genesis.
The Fallen Angels site specializes in StarCraft, Quake III Arena, Diablo II, WarCraft, Counter Strike, Tribes, and includes clan members on the DreamCast gaming platform.

There are about 600 members in the clan. Greenall estimates the oldest Fallen Angel is about 29 to 30 years of age. The youngest is about 12 years old. The majority (about 80%) ranges in age from 13 to 16 years of age. Says Greenall, "Kids at that age are really into games and they like to feel a part of something." He believes every member of the clan is male.
"People come and join the clan and play games together. We have practices and matches against other clans. A big part of the thing is just communicating and making new friends," Greenall says.

His first exposure to computers came when the family bought a 486 when he was 12 or so. "I started playing a few small games like cards or blocks," he recalls.
Greenall's interest in computers really took off when his best friend Aron Fairclough introduced him to a game called Command and Conquer.

"I got hooked on that game and I played it for ages. I played it online with other people. I just realized how much fun I was having and how much I was missing out."
At Fallen Angels, members enter name and password to access a control centre where they can communicate with other members online via ICQ, a user-friendly Internet tool that informs you who's on-line at any time and enables you to contact them at will.

By the Greenall and Masanz would like to be making money with the project. Right now they're spending about $170 a month on game servers. They bring in about $80 a month with online advertising and do some side jobs designing Web sites for others to bring in some money.

Greenall, whose family is part of the West Vancouver Baha'i community, designed the West Vancouver Baha'i Web site www.westvanbahai.bc.ca.

"I put a lot of work into it but it was fun," he says. The time he spends on Fallen Angels clan work varies depending on how much homework he has. On weekends he can go six or seven hours in a period.
Greenall would like to study computer science and perhaps work at a gaming company.

How does []ctavion reconcile playing violent games associated with clan sites and the peaceful coexistence emphasized by the Baha'i faith? "I can play hours and hours of war and killing games and I won't do anything. I have great parenting. If children have that they can determine the difference." [1]
