Thats kool. I was planning on visiting Japan this spring, could you give me an idea of what to expect. A friend of mine is stationed on a base over there, he says that the girls are really nice and the people are friendly and understanding. However, I have also heard that Japanese don't like foreigners; and have been told two different stories about the language. Either, in Japan everyone knows English, or in Japan, nobody knows English. Am I gonna be stoned when I step off the airplane?

ive only been to mainland once but ive lived on okinawa for the past 4 years. most people do not know english or its very limited, the ones that work in american restaurants like mcdonalds know some english. the people here are the most friendly people i have ever been around. but they dont want the military here. they love our money just not the military presence. i totally suggest you visit here cause its awesome. and if you know the name of where you are going taxi drivers can get you anywhere. and i cant stand the drivers... drive to slow and will stop their cars anywhere on the side of the road, even if the road isnt big enough for 2 cars to pass.

Well, I am trying really hard to learn Japanese, between anime and self teaching through a few books, but I probably still won't be anywhere near what I should be by the time I get over there. Okinawa is the bottom island right? Isn't that region more rural/farming? I also hear that almost everything about Japan is tied in with water/seafood, which makes sense since it is an island. Thanks for the insight by the way

Okinawa is mostly packed with beach resorts and US military bases. We have a ridiculous amount of bases on that tiny island. It's where we were sposed to go after Turkey, but my wife's mother had both of her Kidneys fail, and got real sick, so my wife put in to come back anywhere to the states so we could see her Mother more than once a year.

The Air Force base we were to go to is pretty much a Beach Resort that you live on from what people tell me. The base ith is at. Had her Mother not got sick, we'd be there with ith, heh.

Was either that or Yokota in Tokyo. That was actually first on my list, Yokota, but the wife wanted to hit up Kadena, and I was cool going anywhere in Japan.

ith, can't you just take a hop up to Yokota?
